7.14.15

I was talking with a friend today who's oldest will be 18 soon. He sees his nonLDS friends and how their families are "happy, have no fighting or arguing." He's angry and confused, asking "How can the gospel be true if they're happy and have no fighting, but in our family there is fighting and arguing?" We chuckled a bit and then I remembered something I read earlier.

It all began with a family. Our existence, our mortal journey, the Book of Mormon. And in those beginnings, there was arguing, fighting, anger, and disobedience. Lucifer fought Father and disobeyed. Cain fought Abel and disobeyed. Laman and Lemuel fought Nephi and disobeyed.

If there is arguing and fighting and disobedience in the Prophet's families, then I would think that there will definitely be some in mine. I'm not saying just cuz it happens in the Prophet's family makes it ok, but it makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing or not the bad thing at least. I'm on the right the path, and so are you.

Father knows each of us so well, our personalities. He has not left us alone.
