1.30.16

Jacob 3-4 (4:6)
6 Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.
*Search the teachings of the prophets, study your revelations and blessings, follow the Spirit. These witnesses are the foundation to build hope and unshakable faith. The waves and the mountains are our trials. Turn to Him, turn to peace.

1.29.16

Jacob 2 (9)
9 Wherefore, it burdeneth my soul that I should be constrained, because of the strict commandment which I have received from God, to admonish you according to your crimes, to enlarge the wounds of those who are already wounded, instead of consoling and healing their wounds; and those who have not been wounded, instead of feasting upon the pleasing word of God have daggers placed to pierce their souls and wound their delicate minds.
*When we hurt, our leaders hurt. When they call us to task, it breaks their hearts. They have so much love for us, they are disciples of Christ.

1.28.16

Jacob 1 (5-6)
5 For because of faith and great anxiety, it truly had been made manifest unto us concerning our people, what things should happen unto them.
6 And we also had many revelations, and the spirit of much prophecy; wherefore, we knew of Christ and his kingdom, which should come.
*I think 'great anxiety' means trials and they turned to prayer. Revelation was given, and so was comfort. Joy can be found during trials. Ask Him, seek Him.

1.27.16

2 Ne 32-33 (32:2)
2 Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost?
*What if every time we prayed we kept in mind this : prayer is the language of the angels? How would our prayers change? Each of us has been given the gift of tongues, for we have each been given the ability to speak to angels, the ability to speak to Father. The Holy Ghost gives us this power. (PS: all of 32 is awesome) Nephi tells it like it is.

1.26.16

2 Ne 29-31 (31:19-20)
19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay...
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
*It's only the start once we are converted to His gospel, we must continue on the path towards Him. Ever learning and progressing.

1.25.16

2 Ne 27-28 (28:27,30)
27 Yea, wo be unto him that saith: We have received, and we need no more!
30...for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.
*Never stop studying His word. Never stop seeking out your Gifts and talents. He has blessed us greatly, and He desires to bless us more. All we have to do is seek and ask. No such thing as too much Light.

1.24.16

2 Ne 26 (11)
11 For the Spirit of the Lord will not always strive with man. And when the Spirit ceaseth to strive with man then cometh speedy destruction, and this grieveth my soul.
*Strive means "to access God"
*This verse stuck out. There is so much we can do to welcome the Spirit into our homes. We must continue to invite the Spirit in, the desire to have the Spirit dwell with us is powerful. Turn towards the Temple. Read, pray, share.

1.23.16

2 Ne 24-25 (25:26)
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
*This is what it's all about. I love Nephi's plainness- no mincing words, just strait up. Worship with ALL your might, mind, and strength, and you whole soul. Talk, rejoice, preach, prophesy, write
-->CHRIST

1.22.16

2 Ne 21-23 (22:2)
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.
*I love this. I have lots of verses that I love, but this one is at the very top. It brings me such comfort and I absolutely love it.

1.21.16

2 Ne 16-20 (18:18)
18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of Hosts, which dwelleth in Mount Zion.
*Who are you for? No matter how much or how little you do, you are still doing something. Do not hide your faith from your children- they want, more than anything, to be big like mom and dad. Let them see you be big.
*He has given you these children, has called you to this position in your life, so that you might assist in the teaching and preparing of His children.

1.20.16

2 Ne 13-15 (14:6)
6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and a covert from storm and from rain.
*Everything lately has been pointing to the Temple. I know it's only Wed. My thoughts, my eyes, my heart, my feet have been drawn to it all week. I love knowing how close it is. I have a testimony of the power and the peace that can be felt in The House of The Lord.

1.19.16

2 Ne 11-12 (12:3)
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths;..
*Think of ALL the times it says "into the mountain" in the scriptures, the prophets are speaking about the TEMPLE. That's a lot of time spent in the temple. Come, and let us go up.

1.18.16

2 Ne 10 (20)
20...let us remember him, and lay aside our sins, and not hang down our heads, for we are not cast off; nevertheless, we have been driven out of the land of our inheritance; but we have been led to a better land...
22...And now behold, the Lord remembereth all them who have been broken off, wherefore he remembereth us also.
*He forgets the sin, but never loses sight of His children. Let us not hang down our heads, repent and press forward.

1.17.16

2 Ne 7-9 (9:8)
8 O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more.
*So many new things pop. If we were to die with no resurrection, than our spirits would belong to the one who can never be resurrected: Satan. I am very thankful for the atonement. I have been blessed immensely, I really can never repay Him, all I can do is my best. His plan is amazing.

1.16.16

2 Ne 5-6 (5:11)
11 And the Lord was with us; and we did prosper exceedingly; for we did sow seed, and we did reap again in abundance. And we began to raise flocks, and herds, and animals of every kind.
*Once the Nephites arrived and set up tents, they sowed seeds and raised flocks. They didn't just sit and wait for the Lord to give them what they needed - they took action. I love this gospel because it is a gospel of action. We HAVE to do something.

1.15.16

2 Ne 3-4 (4:20-21)
20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.
21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.
*I have felt that burning, consuming of my flesh. And I have felt led thru my afflictions. I just need to remember to turn to Him and take His hand. 26 is also great. Ok so 17-35 are amazing. Turn to Him, He's there.

1.14.16

2 Ne 2 (23)
23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
*My motto for last year was I CHOOSE JOY. It'll be this year's too, I've been struggling for a while. But today was a good day. I was happy today. I thank Father that I can see the joy. This verse hit me, my bad days are the reason I can really enjoy my good days. It's not really about choosing Joy, but seeing myself thru the bad to get to the good. I would choose joy every time, but I can't. All I can do is press on.

1.13.16

2 Ne 1 (5)
5 But, said he, notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me...
*I looked up NOTWITHSTANDING today. It means "without being prevented by" and it hit me. We let our afflictions mess with our heads and prevent us from inviting Him in, from allowing Him to bless us. Don't let your afflictions win. He is greater than all.

1.12.16

1 Ne 22 (30)
30 Wherefore, my brethren, I would that ye should consider that the things which have been written upon the plates of brass are true; and they testify that a man must be obedient to the commandments of God.
*Nephi's testimony. Wow, I felt a power as I read these words. So many have given their lives in service to Him, sacrificed all, and testified of Him - so that we might have these words to guide us.

1.11.16

1 Ne 20-21
1 Ne 20:10 For, behold, I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
11 For mine own sake, yea, for mine own sake will I do this, for I will not suffer my name to be polluted, and I will not give my glory unto another.
*We are in the Refiner's fire. In our hardest moments is when He strengthens us the most, IF we allow Him to. He lifts us, qualifies us for our new lever of progression. The fire is hot and terrible, BUT the strongest, unbreakable steel comes out. The purest gold comes out. Thru the power of the furnace, we become closer to Him. Turn to Him, let Him in.

1.10.16

1 Ne 19
1 Ne 19:23 And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.
*Its early, but so much more has jumped out to me while reading. I am enjoying it so much. I know this book is to help us.

1.9.16

1 Ne 18
1 Ne 18:11 And it came to pass that Laman and Lemuel did take me and bind me with cords, and they did treat me with much harshness; nevertheless, THE LORD DID SUFFER IT THAT HE MIGHT SHOW FORTH HIS POWER, unto the fulfilling of his word which he had spoken concerning the wicked.
*I read this tonight and almost burst into tears. I had never noticed the word SUFFER. He suffers WITH us thru our trials. He is aware of what we pass thru, He hurts too.

1.8.16

1 Ne 16-17
1 Ne 16:29 And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was plain to be read, which did give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord; and it was written and changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence which we gave unto it. And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things.
*The scriptures, the words of the prophets. Each time we hear them, they could mean different things, according to the faith and diligence and TRIALS we are going thru. Christ succors His people. Read, seek, pray- Do the simple things and great things happen.

1.7.16

1 Ne 15
1 Ne 15:8 And I said unto them: Have ye inquired of the Lord?
9 And they said unto me: We have not; for the Lord maketh no such thing known unto us.
*When the Prophet speaks and we don't fully understand do we then take it to the Lord? Do we ask Him the meaning of His words? He will guide us.

1.6.16

1 Ne 14
1 Ne 14:14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.
*Even tho we are scattered, we are all armed with His righteousness, and with the power of God. Remember who you are. His warrior.

1.5.16

1 Ne 11-13
1 Ne 11:17 And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.
*I love Nephi's honesty- I know He loves us, but I got no idea on that other thing. This one simple truth, HE LOVES HIS CHILDREN, is the the baseline of it all. We are His.

1.4.16

1 Ne 9:3 Nevertheless, I have received a commandment of the Lord that I should make these plates, for the special purpose that there should be an account engraven of the ministry of my people.
5 Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not.
*We have been commanded to keep journals. The history we are creating right now is important for our future generations. Get a notebook, write your life.

1.3.16

1 Ne 7:17...O Lord, according to my faith which is in thee, wilt thou deliver me from the hands of my brethren; yea, even give me strength that I may burst these bands with which I am bound.
18 And it came to pass that when I had said these words, behold, the bands were loosed from off my hands and feet, and I stood before my brethren, and I spake unto them again.

*He hears our prayers. He may not answer them exactly how WE have planned, but He always answers them how HE has planned.

Sunday, January 3, 2016

1.2.16

1 Ne 4:1 ...Let us go up again [and keep going] and let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; for behold he is mightier than all the earth, then why not mightier than [my struggles,] yea, or even [my illness].

*I love this view, He is greater than all, and my struggles are not so hard when I remember that He is there. Thru Him, all things are possible. I just need to have faith.

1.1.16

1 Ne 1:1 I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents...

Goodly-Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.

*That right there says so much about Lehi and Sariah. I am so grateful of the name I've chosen to bear. May we honor our names.
