Tuesday is a battle

I take an Institute class on Tuesdays at the local university.
I absolutely *LOVE* my class, and I'm very happy that I go each week. Tuesdays have been hard on me lately. I'm always stressed beyond my normal daily levels, and I can really feel the push and strain of a negative force trying to drown me. It's been hard to overcome, I've been pushed to tears, anger, and frustration every Tuesday since class started. But, my husband is amazing and makes me go, even when it would be easier for me to just crawl into bed.

The first Tuesday of the semester, I was registered for a different class, one of the core classes that I need to graduate. I showed up with my 2 boys, and was told that we couldn't go into the actual classroom because it's a full class and there isn't room for 2 kids. I stated that I registered for the class months prior to the beginning of the semester. The instructor told me the class is aimed at 18-30yo who were attending the college. I tried my best to not erupt on him, and said that I was 29, and registered as a student, and met all qualifications to be in the class. Well, I tried to corral 2 wild boys in the hallway just outside the door, and failed horribly at keeping them under control. I was given plenty of side eyes, and dirty looks, like having my kids there would contaminate those single adults with offspring. The class was The Eternal Family, I brought mine and I felt like a leper. I left in tears.

We've been having some crazy difficult discussions around the house lately, futures are uncertain, it was an emotionally stressful day, and again, last week it all just seemed to hit the fan. Husband got home just in time for the world to fall apart, and the shouting match "Mom vs Boys" started just moments before he stepped thru the door. I left in a rush, and got rained on.

This is week 3... An emotionally and physically exhausting day of wrestling young children into submission, I ended up crashing on the couch for a bit, only to wake up and head to my FIL's. But upon loading the boys in the Durango, I noticed the alarm lights flashing... and they had been flashing for the past 4 hours. Luckily the Durango started right up, but not before the tears fell down my face and I slammed the front door in anger. My key fob was broken. I called my mom to vent, and she laughed at me. Needless to say, that was NOT the reaction I wanted or needed. The battery is now disconnected, and we'll see if it's reset in the morning. A "joyful" trip to the dealership may be in our schedule tomorrow.

Anyways, what this complaining, venting post is saying is : Satan knows how to ruin your day, and he's pulling out all the stops to make your day miserable. Especially if you're doing something that will lift you, something that will bring you closer to the Savior. Going to the Temple? How about a flat tire... Or maybe you leave the gas station WITH the pump still in your car... Church on time? No way, he'll make your kids sleep in and lose their socks. Trying to plan Visiting Teaching? Nope, your 2yo now have the flu. Going to Institute? Think again, he'll tell you that they hate you, and you're not welcome to attend.

I know that Lucifer is a real being, maybe not a physical one, but man, he sure can throw a wrench in your plan.he has absolutely perfected how to ruin a good day. He knows the perfect thought to slip in to make you doubt yourself. He knows where you are weakest, he knows how to get you to shrink away from Christ's reaching hand. Don't give him that power! We must choose to act, not be acted upon!

Choose Joy! Choose the better part. He hates to see us take one step closer to Christ. Make the jerk squirm! Don't let Satan have power of over you. Turn to Christ, follow Him, His plan is a plan of happiness and joy. He is reaching for you, always. There are so many of His servants, and angels, that attend to us, and want to teach us of His love. 💚💙

I love sharing this gospel, and my testimony with my family.

We took a road trip this weekend, and during the ride the little one  randomly said a prayer where he just starting listing off family members. And then my big one started singing "I am a Child of God" and the little one tried to sing along too. *As a hungry man dreams that he eats but when he wakes, his soul is empty. We must find the right things to nourish our soul. Just filling the day with chores and errands isn't going to cut it, we must choose the better part. Choose the actions that nourish your soul.

**I have felt very distracted lately. And things have spun out of control. I've lost a handle on quite a few things, some important, others not important at all. It made me reflect on what I'm choosing to spend my time on and fill my day with. Now, it doesn't help that I have had zero energy lately, but still, there is plenty of good, wholesome, nourishing activities I can fill my day with. I'm grateful for the loss of control (this time!) so that I can refocus, and realign my priorities. Regaining that perspective is what I needed. I've been needing to let go of a few trivial tasks and challenges that, in the end, have very little consequence on my life, and the lives of my family. I'm glad He shook me around a bit to wake me up, I know my Heavenly Father is aware of me, and know what I need.

*Men are that they might have joy. I absolutely love this. We have the choice to act for ourselves, to choose joy over misery. When we choose joy, the adversary pulls out everything to make us feel miserable. I've felt him push against my joy, to the point of exhaustion. Fight for your joy.

Yesterday was a great day, we were all happy even tho we were all feeling the loss of a dear mother. Today I was down and out, just plain exhausted and for no other reason than the fact that I was happy yesterday. I didn't have to work at being happy, it wasn't tiring. I hardly chased the boys at all. But I get the impression, a whisper, that the work I'm doing to make my family happier, and to bring His Spirit into our home more, is exactly the right thing I need to be doing, and that it is working! I felt emotionally and spiritually attacked today, I felt like there was a force pushing me down. Not sadness or depression, but exhaustion. Around 2 I had to check out for a bit, I seriously could not even focus my eyes to put a movie on for the boys. I know the adversary does not want me to succeed in bringing the Spirit into our home, he doesn't want me teaching my boys to pray, or read the scriptures, and I know he is pushing me down and attacking from all sides. Well, I am fighting for my joy.

**The past few nights, I've gone to bed thinking of how different my day might have been if I had done my reading in the morning. I would like to start a habit of reading morning and night. It wouldn't hurt to wake up a little bit earlier...

*Since man had fallen he could not merit anything of himself. I've read that men are the dust of the earth. Today it hit me: ONLY by the Hands and Power of God is dust created into a being. Only He can turn us into what He needs us to be, what we want to become : Gods.

He will find that chink in our armor, and he'll pick at it until it all breaks. He will use our strengths against us. Stand strong.

*The woman with the issue of blood reaches for her Savior, she knows if she touches His clothes, she'll be healed. As she touches the hem, she is made whole. Christ turns to see her, for 12 years she has spent every penny to find a cure, and He says, Your spirit is now whole as well as your body. She is clean.
*I have always loved this story, but tonight, it hit me right in the feels. I realized that each of us, at one point in our lives, is that woman. I've felt it lately, because of my migraines. She touched His clothes, she should have been condemned by the law, but He is the law and forgives her. By touching Him, she made Him unclean (by the law) but He cleansed her, purified her, atoned for her. She spent every penny she had trying to get relief, many physicians, with no relief. I feel that I had done the same, I've tried so hard to make the migraines stop, thrown so much money and so many doctors visits at it, with no relief. But we both took a step of faith, her touching His clothes, and I getting my ears pierced. Both, after years of searching, have relieved us of our pains, our aching. I wish mine had been solved by turning to Him, but I feel comfort in knowing I have tried everything (honestly, EVERYTHING!) and now I finally have relief. I know there have been many, oh so many, miracles in my life. I feel that getting the piercings is yet another miracle.

Tonight Mr. and I had the opportunity to clean the Ogden Temple. It was an amazing experience. It was a totally new temple experience. *So many new things pop. If we were to die with no resurrection, than our spirits would belong to the one who can never be resurrected: Satan. I am very thankful for the atonement. I have been blessed immensely, I really can never repay Him, all I can do is my best. His plan is amazing.

*My motto for last year was I CHOOSE JOY. It'll be this year's too, I've been struggling for a while. But today was a good day. I was happy today. I thank Father that I can see the joy. This verse hit me, my bad days are the reason I can really enjoy my good days. It's not really about choosing Joy, but seeing myself thru the bad to get to the good. I would choose joy every time, but I can't. All I can do is press on.

*I looked up NOTWITHSTANDING today. It means "without being prevented by" and it hit me. We let our afflictions mess with our heads and prevent us from inviting Him in, from allowing Him to bless us. Don't let your afflictions win. He is greater than all.

*Nephi's testimony. Wow, I felt a power as I read these words. So many have given their lives in service to Him, sacrificed all, and testified of Him - so that we might have these words to guide us.

*We are in the Refiner's fire. In our hardest moments is when He strengthens us the most, IF we allow Him to. He lifts us, qualifies us for our new lever of progression. The fire is hot and terrible, BUT the strongest, unbreakable steel comes out. The purest gold comes out. Thru the power of the furnace, we become closer to Him. Turn to Him, let Him in.

*The scriptures, the words of the prophets. Each time we hear them, they could mean different things, according to the faith and diligence and TRIALS we are going thru. Christ succors His people. Read, seek, pray- Do the simple things and great things happen.

*He hears our prayers. He may not answer them exactly how WE have planned, but He always answers them how HE has planned.

*I love this view, He is greater than all, and my struggles are not so hard when I remember that He is there. Thru Him, all things are possible. I just need to have faith.
